1. SHOULD

👉 Conselho geral / recomendação leve

Usamos should para dar uma recomendação suave, um conselho que seria bom seguir, mas não é urgente.

Estrutura:

  • You should + verbo base

Exemplos:

  • You should study more. → Seria bom você estudar mais.

  • You shouldn't eat so much sugar. → Não é bom comer tanto açúcar.

Quando usar:

  • Para dar opinião ou sugestão geral.

  • Situações sem urgência ou risco.


2. HAD BETTER

👉 Conselho forte / aviso

Usamos had better para dar um conselho forte, quase um aviso. Significa que algo ruim pode acontecer se a pessoa não seguir.

Estrutura:

  • You’d better hurry! → É melhor você se apressar (ou você vai perder algo).

👉 Preferência pessoal (comparando opções)

Expressa preferência entre duas ações.

Exemplos:

  • I’d rather stay home. → Prefiro ficar em casa.

👉 Preferência mais formal e educada

Tem o mesmo sentido de “preferir”, mas é mais suave e formal que would rather.
